The municipality of Čečovice lies in western Bohemia. The village's first written record dates from 1355. The Gothic Church of St Nicholas was built from unplastered bricks between 1340 and 1360 and is a national cultural monument. The Baroque chateau stands on the site of a Gothic fortress and is being restored by the Ladislav Lábek Club of the Czech Union for the Protection of Monuments.
