Heřmanova Huť was formed in 1954 by the merger of Vlkýš, Dolní Sekyřany and Horní Sekyřany. It lies about 21 km west of Pilsen.

The municipality takes its name from an ironworks whose founder in the 19th century was Hermann von Lindheim and which manufactured rails. A Baroque church dedicated to St Martin stands in Horní Sekyřany, part of Heřmanova Huť. Local visitor attractions also include a water tower that serves as a lookout.
